INVESTING IN THE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS IN ZIMBABWE THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
INVESTING IN THE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS IN ZIMBABWE THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
Confidence was the inaugural scholarship recipient from the Foundation and his journey is remarkable. “Confidence and many like him are the reason the foundation exists. He did not allow his circumstances to define him, but he worked hard to take advantage of every opportunity presented to him. His spirit and dedication to excellence remind me of my brother, for which this foundation is named after”, said Founder, Tendai Mashingaidze.
Confidence lost both his parents at a young age. Things got harder in the last two years of secondary school when Confidence found himself with no way to pay his tuition. His grandmother sold her few remaining goats to raise money to his final year examination fees, but his tuition was still unpaid. Confidence worked hard to meet the requirements for a scholarship once he learned about the Tapson Education Foundation scholarship opportunity. He beat the odds and exceeded the minimum requirements for the scholarship. After accepting Confidence’s application, the foundation negotiated with the school to waive overdue tuition, so he could continue on a clean slate. Confidence went on to graduate from the Zimbabwe National University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Commerce Honors Degree, in Risk Management and Insurance. Since graduating, Confidence has had a successful career working for one of the leading commercial banks in Zimbabwe. In addition to his full-time job, Confidence is the Operations Director for the Tapson Education Foundation. In his role, he is in charge of identifying deserving students and managing day to day operations. Confidence feels that working for the Foundation is a way to give back to an organization that changed the course of his life.
I pray that the Foundation becomes the largest not-for-profit organization and continues to support more students in Zimbabwe. I would love to continue working as a Director of Operations for the foundation.” – Confidence
Confidence holds a special significance in the life of the foundation. We had no idea when we supported his dream that he would play such a key role in the success of our organization.”

Charity was one of the few students that received a full-ride scholarship while in secondary school. After secondary school, the foundation covered the cost for her to continue her high school education at a boarding school to improve her odds of success. For many students especially girls, home conditions are not always conducive to student success, so boarding school is often the best solution. Charity thrived in boarding school and achieved outstanding results in 2019. As a result, Charity is headed to the University of Zimbabwe to start her wonderful journey to become a medical doctor, in the fall of 2019.
Charity hopes to use her qualification as a medical doctor to improve the health care system in Zimbabwe while supporting her parents and siblings. The Foundation is proud to support Charity’s success.
“The Tapson Education Foundation transformed my life. I pray the Foundation continues to expand its reach and support more students like me.” – Charity
