The Tapson Education Foundation is named after Tapson Mashingaidze, beloved brother to the foundation founder, Tendai Mashingaidze. Tapson, unfortunately, passed away in a car crash in 2007 at the young age of 37.  Tapson's strong belief in the transformative power of education inspired the foundation, which was launched a few years after his passing. When Tapson discontinued his education after secondary school due to family financial challenges, he worked hard to make sure his siblings achieved their educational dreams. Later in life, Tapson pursued further education and earned his certification as a chartered engineer. The foundation was formed with the primary purpose of assisting students, with similar backgrounds to young Tapson, to attend High School and College.

Our primary goal is to support less privileged students in Zimbabwe to achieve their educational dreams. Short-term, we plan to increase awareness about the plight of these students and make sure that we never have to turn away a student in need. Our long-term goal is to open a stand-alone school that works with students from an early age. We have learned over the last 10 years that some of the students that do not meet our academic standards are impacted greatly by their family situation. We hope that a stand-alone school allows for early intervention, which could lead to better outcomes.

At Tapson Education, we are passionate about allowing every child to envision a better future for themselves regardless of family background or economic status. We achieve this by awarding full-ride scholarships to deserving students. Scholarships cover tuition, boarding, food, transportation, tutoring, school supplies, etc. We also support students with other needs such as sanitary napkins for girls.
